D-I-E, Work - Life Balance

Describe
This is the first time that I have been to Finland. I have living in Kokkola for 2 months and I have noticed something about Finnish lifestyle. When I came here one of the most interesting thing was the balance between work and life. In Finland, people good at their work and they can also have the time they need. They have time for their jobs, families and social lives. When I notice this first time, I thought how it can be possible to manage this?

Interpret
I live in a crowded city in my country. In general, people have problems with their free times, even the students. We have competitive educational system in my country and students always try to study more and more and make their bests. To do this, sometimes students think it is better to study for long hours than spend free time with your family or friends. In Finland, people have the best educational system and they have also good social life.
Work, family, friends, sleep or fitness? I always think that you have to pick some of them if you want to have balance in your life. However, people can manage the time for all of these in Finland as I experienced. They have short working hours but it is really efficient and enough for them here.

Evaluate

In my opinion, it is really important to have work – life balance in our lives and it is really nice to do something without being in hurry. Maybe if I ask to Finnish people that how can you manage this balance in your life, they will say it is normal and maybe they do not make an effort for this. It is mostly about their lifestyle and culture. I think this is really a good lifestyle and I wish I could have the same in my hometown.

Music Assignment - Hande Coskun

Legendaariset Kulmalla – jamit!

On 21th of September there was a music event in the Corner’s pub in Kokkola. When I came to pub there were so many people inside and the atmosphere was really good. There were young people inside and some them were student musicians from Centria. Different bands have played and sung. There were different genres of music such as pop, country, rock and blues. They were mostly singing in English. There were various instruments such piano, drums, electric guitar and saxophone.
In general, I liked the event because the band was always changing and you had a choice to listen different kind of music genre. Also, the singers and other musicians were young people so I felt like I am in the concert with my friends.

Centria Night Music avaa musiikin koulutuksen syyskauden

Also, on the 30th of September I visited ‘Centria Night Music' event in Centria Conservatory. It has started at 18:00 and it was divided into six parts. There were breaks between the parts and you could have coffee with your friends. In the concert, we had a chance to listen various kind of music genres. Students and teachers were playing and singing all together. It has started with a popular song ‘It was always you’ in acoustic form and I liked it. Also, I saw different instruments that I have never seen before.
The most beautiful part of the concert was the second part, Kamu Karkeloi. Musicians played their national instruments such as 5-kielinen kantele, tikkukantele and 2-rivinen haitari. I think 2-rivinen haitari was the best part of the concert. It was really interesting and different than the others.
All in all, the event was really good and I liked the performances.
